January 5, 1957 - September 22, 2019
BRYAN PETER STOKES at the age of 62, passed away peacefully with family members by his side on Sunday morning, September 22, 2019. It is with deep sadness to accept that the life of this man – admired by so many for his kindness, generosity and unlimited skills – ended all too soon.
Born in London, England, on January 5, 1957, Bryan was 4-years-old when his parents, brother and sister immigrated to their new home in Canada. Making new friends quickly, Bryan’s early and post-secondary education created a firm base for charting a varied and interesting career path. He first acquired the precision skills needed in the heating and air-conditioning industry, followed by more education to enter the field of architectural design, but all the while he kept his eye on a greater passion: the practice of law. Legal Aid Ontario gave Bryan the springboard for his early paralegal work, after which he accepted an offer to join the legal department of Priestly Demolition Inc. in Aurora, Ontario, where for much of the following two decades Bryan served as the company Vice-President of Legal Services.
Bryan’s leisure interests were many ranging from avid reading, skiing, paddleboarding and general fitness, to the raising of his utterly-devoted Dobermans. Predeceased by his father Roy E. Stokes, Bryan has said good-bye until-we-meet-again to his adoring 91-year-old mother Charlotte, to his loving son Jamie – a source for Bryan of great pride and great joy – and an au revoir as well to his sweetheart Anna and to a heartbroken extended family (past and present) to include his daughter-in-law, Oana, his granddaughters, siblings, nieces and nephews – and each one of their treasured partners.
An informal tribute to Bryan’s life will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 445 Saint Vincent Street, Barrie, on Sunday, September 29, from 1:00p.m. to 3:00. p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated on Bryan’s behalf to Prostate Cancer Canada.
