Donald George Lynn passed away peacefully at Hospice Simcoe on July 15, 2021 with his family by his side.  Don was in his 78th year and will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Marnie of 52 years, much loved daughter Jennifer Cheesman and son-in-law Kent Cheesman, and cherished grandchildren Victoria and Spencer.  Lovingly remembered by his brother Douglas (Judi), step-sisters Pat (Ken) and the late Ellen (Bob), brother-in-law Richard (Gretchen) and sister-in-law Barbara (John).  Proud uncle to Kevin, Heather, Amy, Sarah, Melissa, Kirk and Rebecca and great uncle to Preston, Paisley, Parker, Paxdin, Isabelle, Corrina, Corwin, Nathaniel, Michael, Johno, Kayden, Lyna, Jacob and Nadia.  Don will be remembered by cousins Beverly, Gordon (Evelyn), Richard (Jackie), David (Margaret), Judy, Diane (Don) and their families.

Don spent his career working in the field of computer information technology in Toronto and Simcoe County.  He proudly volunteered as a driver for the Canadian Cancer Society, as a tour guide on the Edwardian Museum Ship S.S. Keewatin, and as the leader of the Tech Team at Grace United Church.  Don and Marnie loved to camp, travel, canoe, and spend time together with family and friends.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Ben Burt and the team in the Integrated Stroke Unit at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for their care and support, the wonderful team at the RVH dialysis clinics for being such an integral part of Don’s health care team over many years, and the compassionate staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe who helped make Don’s last few days comfortable and peaceful.  Don’s family sincerely appreciates the ongoing support and love they have received from family, friends and the congregation of Grace United Church.

A private funeral service will be held on Monday July 26, 2021 at Grace United Church for Don’s family only, due to restrictions on the number of people who can be seated in the sanctuary.
A reception and celebration of Don’s life will be held at the Ferndale Banquet Hall,  24 Ferndale Industrial Drive, Barrie, Ontario L4N 9W2 between 3:00pm and 5:00pm on Monday July 26, 2021 in accordance with Health Unit recommendations.  All family, friends and members of Grace United Church are invited to attend the reception.

If you wish to make a memorial donation, please consider supporting Hospice Simcoe, the RVH Foundation, or Ontario Provincial Parks.
