Atkinson, Eldon Caldwell – May 6, 1923 – October 25, 2021
With much sadness but immense gratitude for a long life lived well, Eldon passed away peacefully in his 99th year at Amica Little Lake, Barrie, with family by his side. Loving husband of the late Shirley (nee Rix), loving father of Linda (the late Robin) Travis, Mary Butler (Paul Kane) and Donald (Birgit) Atkinson. Loving grandfather of Jason (Christy) Travis, Sarah (Jason) Lyon, Katie Butler (Patrick Cernea), Robert Butler, Christopher Atkinson and Ingrid Atkinson (Andrew Porter). Great grandpa to Logan and Bailey Travis and Avery and Kaitley Lyon. Predeceased by brother Gordon (Ruth, predeceased) and sister Leona (Ross, predeceased) Dinsmore. Respected brother in-law of the late Margaret and the late Robert Sinclair, Georgina (the late Robert) Lackie, the late J. Allan (Beverly) Rix and Carol Rix. Predeceased by his father George Washington Atkinson and mother Ethel Winnifred Atkinson (nee Caldwell). Eldon will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends in the community. Eldon was a life long resident of Oro and a successful dairy farmer with a quality herd of pedigreed Holsteins.
Visitation will take place at Adams Funeral Home (445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie, Ontario) on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 10 – 11 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. and can be viewed through the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82965813992?pwd=bmxZMkxMQk53VHc0WXBxbnJFVVJQZz09
An Interment will follow the service at St. James Crown Hill Cemetery (572 Penetanguishene Road, Barrie, Ontario).
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
