Passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Center in Barrie on Thursday August 2, 2018 at the age of 86 after a short battle with cancer. Beloved wife of the late Bill Torrance (2018). Much loved mother of Campbell and Shona. Cherished granny to Matthew Torrance, Erin Jantzi (Cameron) and Callie Torrance. Great granny to Carter. Predeceased by her sisters Jean and Anne.
Jess was born in Cupar, Fife, Scotland and learned to swim in the cold water of the North Sea. She instilled a love of the water in all kids she had contact with including neighbours and the newest generations of our family. As a mom with a young family, she was the ultimate soccer mom (before the term was even known) providing rides and quick dinners almost every night during the summer while both Campbell and Shona played on soccer teams and refereed, and Bill coached and refereed too. From multi-generation cookie decorating at Christmas to hand-knitted sweaters and cross-stitch masterpieces, Jess established many family traditions that are treasured and enjoyed by all generations in our family. Jess will be sadly missed by her extended family and friends.
The family would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Nancy Trimble and her nurse Bernice, for their years of dedicated, diligent and compassionate care.
As per Jess’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre at Royal Victoria Hospital.
