Margaret Jeanne Abbott (Wilson), age 78, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2021. She was born June 28, 1943 in Belleville, Ontario to Amelia and Gordon Wilson. She married her best friend and love of 55 years George, in June of 1966.

She was educated at St. Clement’s School and went on to attend Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing, where she became a Registered Nurse. Marg’s passion for nursing began in Toronto and continued in Sudbury, where she became a mother. She treasured her boys, Jeff and Greg, and embraced every moment with them, always treasuring her roles as a wife and as a mother. She especially loved her later role as Nana.

Marg’s pride and joy was her garden and pond. The countless hours spent by friends and family enjoying it and feeding the fish with her, George and the dogs will be forever be remembered and cherished. Marg’s love of her dogs allowed her to utilize her nursing experience and volunteer with the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program, reaching out to bring comfort, joy and companionship to many members of the community, especially those who reside in long-term care and mental health facilities.

The Beta Sigma Phi Sorority was also touched by Marg, who spent 52 years as a sorority sister and some of those as elected President. She often spoke about how the Sorority allowed her to give back through community service on a larger level with her likeminded sisters. The countless yellow “get well” roses delivered to her will forever be remembered.

Marg is survived by her devoted husband George, and loving sons, Jeff and Greg (Shannon). She will always be an adored Nana to Brooke, Quinton, Nigel, Lincoln and Sinead. Dear sister to the late Gordon Wilson and wife Debby, sister-in-law of the late Doug Abbott, sister-in-law Dorothy and her husband Brock. As well, her nieces and nephews; the late Gord, Richard, Jennifer, Scott, Kelly, and Michelle. All of these she loved and touched deeply. Family was so important to her.

We would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and support staff at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for the care that they provided to Marg in the later parts of her life.

A Visitation will take place at Adams Funeral Home, 445 St. Vincent Street Barrie, ON L4M 6T5 Barrie, ON on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
