May 31, 1937 - August 2, 2020
Passed away at Hospice Simcoe, Barrie on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at the age of 83. Mary Pauline Alice Johnston was born in a log cabin on the Sixth of Flos on May 31, 1937. She was the eldest daughter of George Johnston and Ruth Archer who had both been born on the same road. She spent her youth there as well as on a farm just west of Phelpston.
On September 14, 1957 she married Doug Jones of Anten Mills and together they raised their family, firstly on the 2nd of Flos and later in the village of Anten Mills.
Pauline was put on this earth to be a wife and mother. She excelled at it! When she felt her boys were old enough she took a job at the Simcoe County Museum which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was well respected by her co-workers as well as the patrons and county personnel. She worked there until retirement.
Pauline had may admirable qualities but she will be most remembered for her empathy and kindness to others. She put others before herself, sometimes to her detriment but never waivered from that philosophy until the end. She will be missed by many.
