September 6, 1972 - January 5, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Travis Janaway on January 5th, 2019. A loving husband and devoted father, Travis will be sadly missed by his wife Kristine, daughters Victoria and Kaitlynn and dad, Dave (Myrna). Forever loved by uncle Charlie (Marsha), sister-in-law Nadia (Fabio), niece Mikaela, nephew Francesco, mother-in-law Marianne, and the many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends whose lives he touched.
Travis was predeceased by his brother Rodney and mom Roberta (Bobbi) Janaway.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba September 6, 1972, Travis inherited a love of sports, participating in hockey, baseball and golf throughout his youth.
Travis began his career in the transportation industry working for Purolator Courier in Winnipeg Manitoba. Recruited by Dicom, Travis accepted a management position and he and Kristine moved to Mississauga, Ontario in 1996. Along with a partner and close friend, Travis opened Express Distribution Services in Barrie, Ontario in 1999 to fill a void within the transportation industry. The company grew and garnered much success with Travis in command, ultimately leading to a merger with Muskoka Delivery Service in 2007 where he remained for the duration of his career. Fondly referred as the “human map”, he was well liked and respected within the industry, Everyone that had the privilege of working with Travis throughout his career would agree he was dedicated and had an unwavering worth ethic.
A dedicated family man, Travis and Kristine moved to Barrie in 2001 to start their family. Daughter Victoria arrived November 13, 2002 with daughter Kaitlynn following on January 9, 2006. Travis shared his love of sports with his girls enrolling them in softball at a young age, and then coaching them as they continued to excel in the sport. Summers were all about ball, but for Travis, he would not have it any other way. On any given night if you didn’t see him at a practice or game, you could find him with his daughters on the front lawn practicing their pitching.
Involved in community, Travis was an active coach and mentor with the Barrie and District Girls Softball association. His dedication and enthusiasm followed him from the job to the playing field. For Travis, this was not just about the game, but about family and friendships extending beyond one season.
He will be greatly missed by all.
