It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our dear Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Russell McEwan, who passed away peacefully, Wednesday January 27 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Center in Barrie, Ontario.

Russell was 1 of 6 children born to Christine & George McEwan of East York, Ontario.

Russ began working in the Corrugated Industry at the age of 16 and would have a lengthy 44-year career with the same company, mainly as an Industrial Engineer. Russ would meet his future wife Babe (Deceased 2020) at work and would start a 2-year courtship before marriage to his beloved Babe.
Russ and Babe were married for 67 years.

Russ was a proud, caring father to their 3 sons, Brian (Jenny), Michael, deceased in 1999 (Margaret) & Martin (Mary).

He always enjoyed family gatherings where his 6 Grandchildren; Chad, Corey, Jordan, Breanne, Travis & Kaitlyn and Great Granddaughter, Aliyah could all be together at the same time.

Russ & Babe raised their family in Scarborough, Ontario. The backyard ice rinks were a staple each winter at the McEwan house and a perfect venue for Russell to teach his sons one of his loves, Hockey.
Russ volunteered and became a long serving coach within the Wexford Hockey Association, having coached all 3 of his sons at some point in their hockey lives. He would go on to serve in several Administrative positions, including President of the Association.

Russell also volunteered as a Baseball Coach, which explains another of his loves, Baseball.

Russell loved playing Lawn Darts and started an annual Friends and Family Tournament that still takes place each summer, 42+ years in a row.

Russell’s hobbies included 5 pin bowling and golf. He is the only individual we know that can lay the claim of Bowling a Perfect Game and getting a Hole in One, in his lifetime.

We love you and will miss you, dearly. We know how much you missed Babe and we will find peace knowing you have been reunited with the love of your life.

We would like to thank all the staff and nurses at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Center, who took care of Russ and in his final days with us.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by:
Adams Funeral Home, 445 St. Vincent Street Barrie, Ontario, L4M 6T5.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, there will not be a visitation. A memorial will take place, post Covid, for friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
